Data & the surveillance era

A defining feature of the 21st century and one of the most urgent issues of our times has been the concentration of data, knowledge and surveillance power. Going beyond issues of privacy, the digital revolution raises new imperatives for rethinking the laws which regulate behavioural futures markets and information capitalism which encroach on fundamental human freedoms.  In this track we explore these new information industries, the current legal landscape and examine high leverage strategic legal system intervention points and opportunities for the creation of a more just and ethical architecture for the use of our personal and collective data.
